Asolo Fugitive GTx - 5 Stars for Day Hiking

The Asolo Fugitive GT is one of the finest hiking boots made. A substantial departure from Asolo's classic leather hikers, the Fugitive is a sturdy yet lightweight hiking boot.  The boots pictured above have seen 18 months of weekly use. They have been to the top of Mt. Jackson in Jackson Hole, WY to the Mendenhall Glacier in Alaska. But, the toughest treatment they receive are from my weekly jaunts through the Northeastern hiking trails.

These boots are surprisingly light. They weigh in at a svelte 690 grams. The uppers are comprised of very tough cordura and they are gore tex lined. These boots are best suited for people looking for a high performance day hiker with a medium sized foot. One suggestion - pull out the flimsy, cheap footbed liner and invest in an aftermarket footbed like "superfeet". There will be a separate review on footbeds soon.

Welcome to GEAR GUIDE - A Guide to Gear That Works

Welcome to GEARGUIDE; intensive testing of gear for outdoor activities. This blog will explore the world of commercially available gear for hikers, bikers, fishermen, and skiers. Each and every review is based on field testing by regular individuals. Friends, colleagues and family test the gear by actually using the gear. This is not a site to tout someone's product just because they paid a promotional fee. We go out and find products we think will be useful and then we put them to the test. Testing is not done in a lab unless you call the great outdoors a testing lab. We call it reality. Welcome!
